Meet the team

Philip created the Purpose Homes Group with his erstwhile colleague, Shindy Dosanjh, and City of London grandee Mike Jeffries, with a vision of more competitively delivering higher quality homes for vulnerable people.

Previously Philip was Chief Executive of a social housing group of companies where he led a highly successful business transformation, primarily to facilitate the strategic growth of the company in the coming years. The Group encompassed Real Estate Investment, Specialised Supported Housing and Care for vulnerable adults and doubled in size during his almost 2-year tenure.

Prior to that, Philip was Chief Executive of P H Warr plc, Property and Construction Surveyors, the company he founded in 1992 and sold in 2016. He became one of the youngest Fellows of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors through their exceptional achievement criteria. P H Warr plc managed more than £1bn of construction of which a third was social housing.

He is also a long-standing Fellow of the Institute of Directors for which he has also been a branch Chairman and served on both the National Council and its Nomination Committee. Philip is a former Non-Executive Chairman of P H Warr Libya which he founded and the former Deputy Chairman on the Customer Engagement Planning Forum for SembCorp Bournemouth Water and is also a former Board Member of Bournemouth & Poole College.

He was a founding Director and Deputy Chairman of Dorset LEP and is a former Non-Executive Chairman of Business Solent. In addition, Philip supports several charities; he is currently a Patron of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and Vice Patron of The Stable Family Home Trust. He is also a Non-Executive Director for Star Tech Ltd and Power Audit Ltd. Lastly, he was High Sheriff of Dorset for 2019/2020.

Bringing a wealth of creativity and corporate sector experience, Shindy co-founded Purpose Homes in 2018 with Philip Warr and Michael Jeffries.

Her career began as a buyer for food manufacturing and food service industries and progressed to heading up retail development, working with some of the UK’s leading blue-chip food retailers.

In 2002 Shindy moved into banking, where she worked for one of the big four for seventeen years, honing her corporate and networking skills culminating in her promotion to Relationship Director. Shindy was responsible for more than 50 corporate clients based in the South West of England. Shindy was also heavily engaged with the Barclays turnaround team, and external partners, in assisting businesses to return to a sound financial position.

For six of her Barclays years she specialised in healthcare including working with supported living, learning difficulties, elderly care homes, domiciliary care, rehab centres, medical practices, dentists, opticians, vets, pharmacies, children’s nurseries and numerous other related businesses within the sector.

Shindy left banking in December 2017 to work in the supported living sector and took a new opportunity as Group Development Director. Given her skills, experience and passion she was quickly drawn into the business turnaround of the Group, whilst implementing a growth plan, working very closely with the CEO. As part of the scale-up plan she successfully created a completely new senior management team and helped set up a platform ready for scale. She also helped automate processes and implement systems and deliver a significant improvement in the Group’s turnover, profitability, reputation and brand.

Katy is a Chartered Accountant who trained with one of the big four firms in London. Whilst there she worked for many different blue-chip companies, gaining experience in a number of areas including audit, tax and consultancy.

After several years in practice, she went to work in-house in the rapidly growing mobile technology sector.

She worked for Motorola, firstly as general accounting manager, and subsequently went on to specialise in new products and technologies – working with various areas of the business to determine product viability, demand and cost analysis. As part of this she also spent time giving training on new product technologies in Europe and Asia. After leaving Motorola she went to work for EE – also specialising in new business development.

During recent years she has raised a family alongside working as head of finance for a franchising company. In addition she has been involved in a number of pro bono activities – she is a director of a children’s charity, she provides musical entertainment for old people – in care homes, community centres and dementia clinics.

She has organised and run a toddler group, provides musical sessions for a pre-school, was treasurer of the school PTA and helps to run a section of the Eisteddfod in the city where she lives.

Shelley is an experienced professional with over 30 years working in the construction industry, who is passionate about delivering high quality housing and customer focused services that make a difference to people’s lives.

After starting her career as a trainee QS with a local building contractor Shelley has amassed extensive knowledge and expertise in commercial construction, property management as well as the social housing sectors. Spending over 16 years working for a number of south west based Housing Associations overseeing and leading teams that delivered the improvement programmes and day to day maintenance.

More recently she has worked for a local building contractor and has delivered the refurbishment of 2 projects for Purpose Social Homes in Bournemouth and Gosport.

Her greatest achievement was gaining membership of the CIOB in 2009 and was an active local committee member and Chairperson up until 2013.

Shelley’s passion outside of work is playing golf at club and county level.
