B Corp - A force for Good

Purpose Social Homes envision a global economy that uses business as a force for good to deliver Specialised Supported Housing for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. This economy is comprised of a new type of corporation - The B Corporation which is driven by purpose and creates benefits for all stakeholders, not just shareholders. As B Corporations and Leaders of this emerging economy, “WE BELIEVE THAT WE MUST BE THE CHANGE WE SEEK IN THE WORLD”.

We are part of a growing community of over 8,000 businesses globally that have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK is one of the largest and fastest-growing in the world, with over 1,700 companies spanning a range of different industries and sizes. Purpose Social Homes is also part of the Better Business Act - a coalition made up of over 2,000 businesses campaigning for a change to the law that would see all companies in the UK align their long-term interests with those of wider society and the environment.

Our B Corp Strategy

We are reinventing how business is done for the benefit of all people and our shared planet. Our strategy aims to create long-term Specialised Supported Housing solutions for vulnerable individuals with complex needs that are environmentally friendly, economically sustainable and socially impactful while fostering an inclusive community and improving the quality of life for everyone.

B Corp Certification isn’t an award - it’s an embedded part of our journey towards continuous improvement and collective action. It enhances our vision of an equitable society by infusing social and environmental responsibilities into our operations, driving us to deliver our Mission of ‘raising the quality bar of Specialised Supported Housing’ for vulnerable individuals.

We aren’t perfect, no business has no negative impacts but by committing to transparency and continuous improvement, we are striving to redefine business norms. B Corp certification ensures continuous improvement in our standards, helping us exceed industry norms and promoting fairness in the Specialised Supported Housing sub-sector.

Our B Corp Impact Score

We're proud to have been achieved a score of 93.4 in our B Impact Assessment. The median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9.

B Corp certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall social and environmental impact of the company that stands behind it.

To achieve B Corp Certification, a company must meet a score of at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, an evaluation of a company’s positive impact, and pass a risk review, an evaluation of a company’s negative impact; change their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders; and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their B Corp Certification performance to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
