Sustainability Impact

Purpose Social Homes acknowledges the criticality of environmental sustainability in both defining and strengthening our mission. Sustainability is therefore embedded throughout our strategy. We aim to take a leadership role by advancing our understanding of sustainability, developing strategic partnerships, and implementing best practices to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment.

We believe that by integrating priority objectives within our day-to-day operations, we can demonstrate our commitment to addressing some of the world’s most pressing global challenges.
We have identified the following priority sustainability objectives to achieve our sustainability goals:
Promote Sustainable Business Models and Practices
Reduce our carbon footprint on the environment.
Engage positively with communities and stakeholders with whom we work.
Uphold the high standards of Corporate Governance, Ethics and Risk Management
Commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of employees.
Be a responsible, inclusive employer and client.

Environmental Impact

Purpose Social Homes is committed to raising the quality bar of Specialised Supported Housing whilst minimising the negative impact on the environment.  We are dedicated to prioritising sustainability and driving energy efficiency initiatives for the benefit of both our residents and society at large.

We believe that investing in renewable energy and reducing our carbon footprint is not only a responsibility but rather presents a tremendous opportunity for growth and innovation.

By working closely with renowned industry experts who offer the entire spectrum of sustainability and energy efficiency consultancy services we expedite our journey towards a cleaner and greener environment whilst simultaneously positioning ourselves as a sustainability frontrunner in the Specialised Supported Housing sector.

Sustainable Transportation

One of the most impactful ways Purpose Social Homes can reduce its carbon footprint in operations is by embracing Electric Vehicles for business travel. Using EVs has significantly reduced our carbon footprint and charging EVs with renewable energy resources further enhances our sustainability and demonstrates our commitment to Net Zero.

Our recent report on Fossil vs. Electric Mileage shows that we have increased our Electric travel from 80% in 2022 to 96% in 2023-2024.

Transitioning to electric vehicles is not just about reducing emissions, it’s about leading the change towards a sustainable future. By incorporating EVs into our business corporate plans, we are not just meeting our sustainability goals but also driving the change we want to see in the world.

With no central office in place, we have embraced the sustainability advantages of working from home and conducting the majority of our stakeholders’ meetings virtually.

Sustainable Buildings

We provide energy-efficient Specialised Supported Housing which is equipped with intelligent electronic control systems such as PV, electric heating and air source heat pumps (ASHPs) that allow residents to optimise their energy consumption and therefore costs.

Sustainable design in property development creates buildings and spaces that reduce environmental impact while enhancing resource efficiency and occupant well-being.

By incorporating external green spaces, we contribute to urban greening efforts, improve local biodiversity and create more sustainable and liveable environments.

Social Impact

Our approach encompasses a deep-rooted commitment to making a positive social impact in all aspects of our work. This entails establishing goals aimed at fostering positive transformations in the lives of vulnerable people, as well as empowering our team to serve as catalysts for positive change.

Our primary focus is on diminishing disparities amongst disabled individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours, thereby contributing to the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goal for Reducing Inequality in the UK.

Our “Hospital to Home” initiative is designed to provide housing for individuals with physical disabilities and learning disabilities and/or autism who have been residing in institutional inpatient settings.

Aligned with the Transforming Care Program (TCP) by NHS England, our efforts complement TCP’s mission to enhance health and care services, enabling a greater number of individuals to reside in their communities with appropriate support near their homes.

Charity Support

We recognise the importance of supporting local charities as another way of giving back to society and demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility. By partnering with and supporting charitable organisations, we make a meaningful difference in our local communities and beyond.

In 2023, Purpose Social Homes signed up for a 30-4-30 pledge and were one of thirty companies helping to raise funds for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care to help them continue to deliver their vital work. The Purpose team walked between four of our project sites. We raised £1500 through our generous sponsors and match-funded this amount to £3000!

Stakeholders Feedback

At the end of each project, we receive key stakeholders’ feedback and ask how likely they would be to recommend Purpose Social Homes to others.

We use the Net Promoter Score (NPS) approach to track the satisfaction of our stakeholders. Last year (2022-2023), our average NPS score was 9.2 out of 10.
